Banana bread topped with condensed milk and nutella

It’s been a year since i started blogging. I had no idea that something called food blog exits till i came across Mahanandi while browsing for recipes. I couldn’t believe my eyes, the pictures where amazingly good and so where the recipes. Few weeks passed by, and then one of my best friends sent me a link of Cool peppers. That’s when i realized there is a whole world of blogging out there.

From then i just got stuck to all these beauitful blogs. Day by day I came to know more about the other blogs. I was very impressed by Meeta’s pictures and Shilpa’s dedication in posting recipes almost every single day.

All these beautiful blogs inspired me in starting my own blog. A year passed by with 71 posts and little over 100,000 hits. Made friends and shared thoughts with some amazing people whom i have never seen nor met.

I take this opportunity to thank all the fellow bloggers and all the lovely people who visit my blog and encourage me with their lovely comments. And my special thanks to my mom, my husband and my family for their support.

I almost forgot, my special thanks to my most beautiful and adorable daughter who lends some of her precious time so that her mom can blog. Thanks Kanna and love you bangaru!

Coming to the picture, its Banana bread which i baked in a corning container and lined it up with a disposable coffee filter.Venkatesh topped the bread with some condensed milk and nutella. You can see them dripping on those lines. Made a lovely presentation.

Feed a hungry child (FAHC) is started by Vijay K. Narayanan and its a non-profit organization. In rural areas hundred of kids die everyday for the lack of basic food. We the bloggers who talk and write so much about food should unite together and lend a supporting hand in raising the funds for FAHC.

For further info on FAHC click here
and chip in to contribute safely.

A person who contibutes more than $ 25 is eligible to get a raffle ticket and win some amazing prizes given away by some of our dear bloggers.

For more info on the prizes go to mahanandi where Indira explains the raffle prizes in detail.

So I request everyone to chip in and contribute the FAHC as the clock is ticking fast.
Last date to contribute: Oct 23rd.

From the city of cowboy’s….

Posted by Madhavi on oc31obeThu, 02 Aug 2007 16:52:15 +0000 31,2006

First mom and dad left to India, then we moved from Philly to Dallas. Yup Dallas, which is about 1500 miles from Philadelphia. The move kept me extremely busy, especially with my 3 month old daughter who doesn’t leave her mommy a minute. Since Ven took off for sometime settling in the new place wasn’t that bad.

Moving to Dallas from east coast feels like a complete new world. We live in somewhat not so busy area, which makes me miss the city life of Philly and NY so badly. But there are other amenities which i enjoy. In Philly we lived in a high raised building, we absolutely had zero sunlight in our apt. Now i have lots of windows and the sunlight is always a guest in my house. I just love it.

With so much going on blogging took back seat, had no patience to even cook so there was no way i could take pictures, and publish the recipes. Now as the things are cooled down a little bit, I will get back to blogging soon.

This time i want to blog more recipes from my home state Andhra Pradesh. Pickles (pachadi), powders (podi), chinta pandu puliharam (tamarind rice) and many more local and simple recipes which leaves a mark of Andhra and its wonderful cuisine.

Blogging break…. a new arrival in my family…

Posted by Madhavi on oc31obeThu, 03 May 2007 22:49:42 +0000 31,2006

It’s been a month that I have posted any new recipes in my blog. Sorry for everyone who visited my site for any updates. I have been extremely busy so didn’t have time to blog.

Today I would like to share a very happy news with you all. We have recently welcomed a baby girl to our family. She is my first kid, and this is one of the joyful moments in my life. I really don’t have any words to express how happy I am. All I want to do is just stare at her and enjoy each and ever moment with her. To add to this joy, my mom is here for the 1st time. She is taking care of me and my baby.

My cute munchkin basically does these three things: sleep, drink milk and poop. My day revolves according to her schedule. This leaves me with very little time for myself and I definitely don’t have extra time for blogging. If time permits I would love to blog my mom’s recipes. If worst comes I will atleast take some pictures which I can use in the future.

Meanwhile I will be visiting all my favorite blogs, and will try to keep in touch.

Till then HAPPY BLOGGING.

Philadelphia Flower Show

Posted by Madhavi on oc31obeSat, 10 Mar 2007 21:07:15 +0000 31,2006

Every year Philadelphia welcomes the spring with a Flower show. This show has been taking place from many years and people from all over the country come to see it. This year the flower show is being held between March 4-11, 2007.

Luxurious landscapes and floral arrangements, towering trees and plant displays, Irish singers, dancers and storytellers are all part of the Philadelphia Flower Show.

Its just walking distance from my house,I am so happy that i could really visit the flower show, its worth it. I definitely took more than hundred pictures, I wish i could put each and every picture in my blog. Since i figured no way i could put all 100 pictures, i had to settle with some of my most favourites.

Scroll down and you can see some of the pictures i have taken at the Flower show. Hope you will enjoy them!

Remove Plagiarism

Bloggers protest event against Yahoo India!

Recently Yahoo India has publishd few recipes from one of the fellow bloggers:
Surya Gayathri of Kariveppila. Yahoo neither had permission nor it gave credit to her recipes. Once the voice was raised, Yahoo did remove the content but never apolozised. It’s not just Yahoo, bloggers have been facing the plagiarism problem in many other ways. So, this is a protest against yahoo and a protest against copyright violations!
